4 heads, 16 limbs, 24 steel strings, sound-effect devices as so many outgrowths and distortions : the OGR is a monster that relates… monsters, by musically describing fantastic characters.
The OGR is a guitar quartet. The composition principle of its repertoire is based on the study of monsters. The idea is to draw up an imaginary sound portrait inspired by the distinctive features of a chosen monster. The constituents of composition are collected both in what the monster brings to someone’s mind and its representation and meaning in the collective imagination. The OGR works on setting it in its context, and tries to mesure its impact among history to offer a contemporary re-reading.
After Gojira (created in 2011), the japonese monster imaged in 1954 by Ishiro Honda, Medusa, the gorgon, is the subject of the second part of this surprising bestiary.
For the third declension of the project, the quator focus on the Golem, the stemming monster he of the Jewish mythology.
