Satoko Fujii first European orchestra, the twelve-piece Orchestra Berlin celebrates Fujii’s move to the city in 2011 along with husband, trumpeter, and orchestra member Natsuki Tamura. With its own unique instrumentation and singular voice, Orchestra Berlin joins similar bands fronted by Fujii in New York, Tokyo, Nagoya, and Kobe. “I like having orchestras in different cities because that kind of diversity can give my music energy,” Fujii says.

Orchestra Berlin released Ichigo Ichie (Libra Records 212-037) in 2014.
